Our school is an 11-18 co-educational comprehensive school set in the magnificent parkland of the former Hardenhuish Manor and Chippenham Grammar School.

We enjoy an outstanding reputation locally and nationally as a ‘High Performing Specialist Academy’ being the first school in Wiltshire to take advantage of more local ‘quality control’ as part of the Coalition Government’s flagship academy scheme. At Hardenhuish we put children at the centre of all we do: we believe in a three way partnership with school, home and the individual, ensuring that each and every young person is ‘inspired to learn, supported to succeed’.

Our aim is that each Hardenhuish pupil not only achieves academic excellence, and the qualifications to take them to further or higher education and adult working life, but also take advantage of a myriad of social, personal and recreational enrichment opportunities. Our specialisms in Mathematics and Computing (since 2003) and Science (since April 2009) are complemented by our status as the only Lead School for Gifted and Talented learners in North Wiltshire, a status which recognises our exemplary provision for the most able pupils and our outreach programme which benefits the wider community.

The learning environment at Hardenhuish now boasts a Technology Centre, Sports Hall with climbing wall, English and Performing Arts Centre and two-storey Sixth Form Centre, along with the extensively redeveloped Science and Maths Centres, which means that our campus has some of the most impressive educational facilities in the County.

To thrive in the 21st century, we understand that the pupils need to graduate from their secondary education not only with impressive exam certification but also with a repertoire of personal qualities which will help them to succeed.

The truth is that no one can predict what the future holds for our young people. Destinations are unknown and our pupils will not arrive at them until much later in life. That is why the next stage in their learning journey is so exciting and so important.

We work hard to instill the habit and attitudes that enable out pupils to face this future, calmly, confidently and creatively

We put our pupils at the centre of all that we do, shaping a curriculum to suit their aspirations and preparing them to compete in the most demanding walks of life.

We encourage our pupils to:

  • Develop an inquiring mind and a love of learning
  • Use their imagination and be creative in solving problems
  • Show respect, self-disciplinne and self-awareness
  • Work effectively on their own with others
  • Develop a portfolio of skills
  • Have high expectations of themselves
  • Show courage and perseverance when facing challenge
