About Our School

Hill Top Primary opened in 2002 and was the first purpose built Private Finance Initiative (PFI) school in Leeds offering enviable facilities including large playgrounds, a sports field, a fabulous hall and superb ICT facilities. We have further improved our grounds, assisted by strong partnerships with local businesses with the building of a garden and a nature area which promotes outdoor learning - Forest School. FOHT helped to fund the climbing equipment and the Outdoor Learning Area in KS1.

We strive to be an inclusive school and offer a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum, which is challenging and stimulating and meets the needs of all our pupils regardless of ability, gender or ethnicity.

At Hill Top Primary, we’re proud of our friendly, happy and caring school. Each pupil is valued and encouraged to achieve to the best of their abilities.

We’re also a very successful place to learn – promoting early achievement in the core skills of reading, writing and mathematics and with high levels of attainment throughout school.

We were also very proud to have achieved a Good Ofsted rating in May 2019 where Ofsted said that the leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection. They said that strong leadership has created a culture of high expectations for pupils' achievement and that pupils are securing good outcomes across the school. They said that at Hill Top Primary there is a strong sense of teamwork and an ethos in which pupils thrive as the relationships between staff and pupils are warm and inviting.

Our aim is for our children to thoroughly enjoy their time with us and therefore our wider curriculum is exciting with a strong emphasis on personal and social development, physical education, modern foreign languages and the Arts. Look at some of the photos on the class pages to see what we get up to! We ensure that our children are well equipped both socially and academically to transfer to High School with confidence.

The value of positive links between home and school is really important to us and we work closely with parents to ensure maximum benefits for each and every child.

Children at Hill Top are taught in a well equipped, stimulating environment by a team of talented and dedicated staff. The school is fortunate to be situated in an attractive setting and enjoys an excellent local reputation.

I’m tremendously proud of our school, our staff and our pupils. We all want every Hill Top pupil to enjoy a successful and rewarding primary school life.
