Overview

Hinchingbrooke is a remarkable state school. Set in acres of beautiful grounds and adjoining a country park, Hinchingbrooke House was formerly the family home of Oliver Cromwell and of the Earls of Sandwich. The school finds inspiration from its heritage and gives both staff and students a very special pride and a sense of identity.

We aim for all students to be nurtured as uniquely talented individuals, finding fulfilment through their learning and the development of their intellectual, creative, physical and emotional capabilities. We aim for our students to develop the moral integrity to become responsible global citizens, so that they may take their place in society with confidence. We are confident that anyone associated with the Hinchingbrooke learning community, student or adult, will leave the richer for their experience. Working for Us

Hinchingbrooke is an outstandingly beautiful school.  Set in acres of grounds and adjoining a country park, Hinchingbrooke House was formerly the family home of the Cromwells and of the Earls of Sandwich.

We also have a magnificent range of much more modern purpose-built facilities, such as a swimming pool, an all-weather sports pitch, a Performing Arts Centre and designated subject suites.  Extra-curricular activities (music, drama, sport and Duke of Edinburgh) are a much valued feature of the school and we seek to appoint teachers willing to help maintain this tradition. We have also developed a fitness suite, available for staff use, as part of our Sports Specialist status.  A state of the art £2.4 million Sports Hall is currently under constuction.

Our focus at present lies very much in the area of teaching and learning. We believe that this must be at the heart of all our developmental work. This is certainly an exciting stage of Hinchingbrooke's development as we seek to fulfil the potential of each and every one of our students.

Professional Development

We are committed to the professional development of all staff. At present, we have staff involved in studying for higher degrees, the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) whilst thirty-three staff are participating in a leadership and management training course led by the LEA and paid for by the school. We are also involved actively in ITE provision, and we run a full NQT induction course. All of this is in addition to regular opportunities for staff to participate in subject, pastoral and other training
