Welcome

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Hospital and Home Education Learning Centre, an education provision based in the City of Nottingham for children and young people with health needs. HHELC delivers four separate provisions across multiple sites including;

1.The Children’s Hospital School which serves 13 wards at the Queens Medical centre.

2.Two wards and a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Lookout Education Centre at Hopewood CAMHS Unit.

3.The Nottingham Home Education Service and,

4.The Key Stage 3 and 4 Sherwood Group based at the Sherwood Education Centre

I feel very privileged to be the Head Teacher of HHELC and lead a strong team of highly skilled staff. We want all our children and young people to be confident, happy individuals capable of fulfilling both academic and personal success. We believe that every pupil and student should feel valued and encouraged to achieve the very best they can and we are committed to working with a range of professionals and parents to achieve our aims. Our core principles and aims are shared across the whole school at all four separate provisions.

I hope our website gives you a flavour of the learning that our pupils and students undertake on a daily basis. The personalised learning approach we adopt means that each pupil or student can continue their learning with both challenge and security, at their own pace, without pressure and within a safe environment.

I hope that you are able to find all the information you require but If you would like to know more about our school, please contact me on;

The Lookout Education Centre

These young people are experiencing mental health difficulties that can no longer be managed in the community.

Sherwood Education Centre and Outreach

The Sherwood Education Base Group is our small group provision which houses the Outreach Provision.

HHELC OUTREACH enables students to transition between 3 different pathways so academic and personal progress can be maintained. HHELC works closely with home schools regarding transition across the pathways when appropriate.

The Nottingham Children’s Hospital School

The Children’s Hospital School offers education to children and young people from Early Years Foundation Stage 2 to Post 16 across all wards at the Children’s Hospital. Teaching provides a continuity of education, and the three pathways allow pupils to make academic and personal progress through an individualised approach around their medical needs.
