Overview

Our school is happy and caring and dedicated to providing the best possible education for every pupil in a stimulating and safe environment. We encourage families to work in partnership with us to realise our aim of successfully helping children to achieve more than thought possible.

The Hythe Community Primary School is a maintained primary school in the county of Surrey. There has been a school in this site since 1884 initially educating the children of the Hythe in two separate single-sex schools. In 1969 the schools became a First School and Middle School each with a distinct identity and later, in 1985, amalgamated to become Hythe First and Middle School. The school changed again in 1993 to become a Primary School for children between the ages of 4+ and 11 years.

In September 1996 the original Victorian Buildings were closed and eventually redeveloped into flats and houses although still retaining their charm. With the construction of new classrooms and refurbishment of many areas of the school buildings, September 2003 saw the official opening of the newly developed Hythe Community Primary School as we know it today.

About Us

Aims

We aim to develop a multi-cultural community where high standards are achieved by all. By providing a safe, secure and stimulating learning environment for all to succeed, children are encouraged to develop at their own rate and reach their full potential. We aim to address not only the academic but also the social, physical, emotional, creative, moral and spiritual needs of the children. We provide a caring environment that supports difficulties and celebrates achievement.

Through fostering links with parents, carers and the wider community, we aim to enrich the experience of all our children.   We want our children to be happy, confident, enthusiastic and motivated learners to fulfil their potential to have equal opportunities to learn the difference between right and wrong to understand that decisions have consequences to be assertive, sensitive and responsible citizens of the future to learn to behave appropriately and be self-disciplined to appreciate the needs, beliefs, values, feelings and property of others to learn how to communicate effectively to develop enquiry skills and perseverance to have an awareness of their place in the world to know the importance of their environment and heritage
