Students at Lutterworth High School clearly enjoy their learning. This largely is due to the dedicated staff, who pull out all the stops to create lessons that are innovative, challenging and allow students to make excellent progress and achieve great results. We have an excellent ICT infrastructure and we are at the forefront of using ICT to support and develop learning. We place a strong emphasis on homework tasks, which stimulate and allow students to explore and develop their breadth and depth of understanding.

The size of our school enables us to really know our students academically and socially. If a student does require support with their learning, then our dedicated team will support and help your child progress. Likewise, if your child is academically talented we will encourage and challenge them to excel.

Our learning environment is designed to inspire our students. We have excellent facilities, including our state of the art learning hub and the terrace, which offers a relaxing and pleasant environment for our students to take their recreation time.

We are a restless school in the sense that we are always striving to improve the educational experience for our students.

Our motto of ‘Where learning comes first’ encapsulates the ethos of our school where we do everything in our power to provide the best possible learning experience for all students regardless of age, gender and/or ability, both inside and outside the classroom.

Underpinning everything we do is a determination to develop socially articulate young citizens who are responsible, reliable and respectful members of their local community. A range of curriculum experiences will develop students’ understanding of what it means to be a citizen in modern Britian so that they will be able to understand and challenge opinions and behaviours that are contrary to fundamental British values. Through our taught curriculum and extra-curricular provision we offer a range of opportunities for our students to relate to and engage with the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and  beliefs, in order that they can develop the skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate and contribute fully to life in modern Britain.

The fundamental values of democracy, liberty and the rule of law are reflected in the many aspects of the work of our student council and the student leadership opportunities that challenge students both in lessons and in the wide variety of extra-curricular activities that are on offer.

Students, particularly year 9, are heavily involved in making decisions as we start our first year 10 and move towards being an 11-16 school. We want our students to understand how citizens can influence decision-making through the democratic process and appreciate that living under the rule of law protects all citizens and ensures their wellbeing and safety. During lessons students are given the opportunity to learn about how our country has been shaped and how as a country we embrace that our citizens have different faiths and beliefs and that these should be accepted and tolerated and not be the cause of prejudicial or discriminatory behaviour. Careers education and guidance encourages students to reflect and understand what skills and attributes they will need to participate fully in life in modern Britain. Resilience and empathy are encouraged and developed in our Skills Days, Day 0, Holocaust Memorial Day and Activity Week which involves students participating in trips here in Britain and abroad. One of the trips to South Africa enables students to see and experience at first-hand democracy, liberty and the rule of law in another continent and compare it with their own experience of life in Britain today. Student support services are all geared and committed to ensuring that each student has every opportunity to achieve their full potential, develop a lifelong love of learning for its own sake and any barrier to learning that they face is removed.
