Mary Immaculate High School: Achieve the Best for all Follow us on Twitter Like us on Facebook Visit our Website We are a high achieving co-educational comprehensive school meeting the needs of children of all abilities aged 11-16. We serve the Catholic community of the western regions of Cardiff and beyond, as well as families from other religious and non-religious backgrounds who seek to receive a faith education. Our aim is quite simple. We want our children to develop into well-rounded and high achieving individuals who leave us ready to be successful in the next stage of their lives. We demand a lot of our pupils at Mary Immaculate and as a result our academic results are very high. This year 100% of our pupils gained five A*-C grades, continuing our excellent work. Pupil progress also continues to be in the top 5% nationally. Estyn recognised our great achievements in 2015 by saying;  “There is a positive working relationship between teachers and pupils that help to foster a calm and purposeful earning environment”;  They also commented that,  “The Headteacher and the leadership team communicate an extremely clear vision of excellence for the school that has, at its heart, the maximum achievement of all learners and their spiritual and moral development”  We celebrate all achievements with our pupils – whether they are sporting, creative, or cultural, both in class and in our extensive extra-curricular programme. We also aim to develop skills to help them be successful in our ever-changing world and understand a sense of morality guided by the gospel values of respect, care, compassion and love, which underpin the Catholic mission of our community. Children have one chance in education. They deserve the best and our role at school is to provide them with this. We have the highest expectations of and for our pupils and, with the support of our parents, we shall leave no stone unturned to achieve our goal. Educating children is a great responsibility and an immense privilege.

About Us

Mission and Purpose:
As a faith school Mary Immaculate welcomes children of all faiths and none. Our philosophy to education is clearly explained by our mission and purpose as a school. In achieving these aims all students at Mary Immaculate can expect to: Achieve the best results they could possibly hope for. As a school we serve a wide range of students from a wide range of backgrounds. We believe that every child deserves the right to an excellent education. Students who attend Mary Immaculate can expect to be challenged and pushed to achieve their full potential in public examinations. Develop skills to prepare them for the world of work. The idea of a 'job for life' belongs to a bygone era so students need to be prepared fully to ensure they develop employable skills. Students need to be able to develop confidence to work with others, be functionally literate and understand number, as well as be digitally competent.  Know and understand a sense of morality grounded in gospel values. We promote the Christian values of respect, care, compassion and love. We may refer to these as gospel values but to understand the difference between right and wrong, learning to say 'sorry' and 'I forgive you' is as important for any member of society regardless of a religious background.

Working for Us

We always want to appoint enthusiastic, dedicated and ambitious teachers and leaders who will put the needs of learners at the forefront of their thinking. We offer an extensive in-house training programme including our own Excellent and Good teacher programmes as well as leadership training, in conjunction with many other schools. We are a Professional Learning Hub School so we are involved in training staff all over the region and work closely with Consortia to develop the careers of teachers and leaders. We value innovation and are always looking for ways to enhance what we offer to our young people.

Our Commitment to your Career

Opportunities for staff development are broad and extensive. All staff have clear performance management targets which are set in line with standards and provide an opportunity for professional development, as well as differentiated according to subject and individual needs. Coaching partnerships continue to exist at all levels in the school; we operate our in-house coaching team which leads much of our in-house training and we have training pupils as coaches to support hers and raise aspirations and build resilience. The school is committed to sharing best practice and works closely with the Central South Consortia as a Professional Learning Hub as well as offering a wide range of Teachmeets and peer observation opportunities. The school also is very highly regarded for its work with NQTs and new staff.

The core purpose of Mary Immaculate is to “achieve the best for all”. This philosophy is at the heart of everything we aspire to do for each member of our community.
