Successes of the School In our recent Ofsted Inspection we were judged to have improved significantly from our last inspection. The school has moved out of the failing category ‘Notice to Improve’ to ‘Requires Improvement’ and we have now set our sights upon reaching the ‘Good’ category on our journey to ‘Outstanding’.  Merrydale Junior school achieved Healthy school status in 2008 and has maintained this ever since.

We were also awarded the ABC anti-bullying award in July 2013. In 2015 Merrydale Junior School was given Requires Improvement following an Ofsted Inspection.div> A cycle of improvement has now been established by the headteacher and the school has a clear road map to achieve the good and outstanding categories as laid down by Ofsted. Since 2011 the headteacher has sought to expand the roles that existed in Merrydale Junior School.

 We have a Pastoral Support Officer and a Behaviour Mentor to look after the varied need of our children.  We also have a Parent Link Worker employed specifically to deal with issues that any parent of a child at this school may have On the ‘Parent View’ section of the Ofsted website, we gained positive feedback from 95% of all parents who completed the online questionnaire.  This school also holds the current record for the most surveys completed by parents.
