Overview

Robin Hood Junior School is a community co-educational school for boys and girls aged 7-11 years.  We are a friendly and diverse community school situated in the heart of Sutton. We have a strong and supportive ethos across the whole school community. Governors, parents, the leadership team, all staff and pupils care about and contribute to the development of the school. Our school is bright, clean and has outstanding ICT provision. There is a staff car park and excellent transport links nearby.

We seek to create a safe, caring and happy environment in which all pupils are involved and can thrive personally socially and academically.

Visits to the school are encouraged and please call the school office to arrange a look around. In the meantime our website is full of useful information and will give you a taste of life at Robin Hood Junior School.

About Us

WELCOME

Our vision for Robin Hood Junior School is for our children to leave us literate and numerate; hardworking; able to communicate; brave and compassionate. We work hard to provide a creative and challenging curriculum in order to build children’s skills, confidence and self-esteem. Every child and every adult is valued and developed and we are committed to safeguarding. Our parents and governors are supportive and fully involved in school life.

At this school the needs of the child come first. We don’t label or set limits. We develop capacity in adults and children. We are inclusive. We are committed to using equalities legislation; qualitative data and research, adapting to changing local and national pictures and the pressures on budgets. We look outwards; constantly seeking to widen the rich and engaging experiences offered to our pupils and staff.

The National Curriculum may be the statement of essential content but the school curriculum is so much more. It’s the whole school experience from the smile on the gate to the jam tarts made at cookery club; the Mathletics challenge and the Christmas card competition. Our clubs vary depending on the time of year and availability of coaches and staff but have included: Cookery, Football, Taekwondo and Coding! All children in Year 4 learn a brass instrument and we have a guitar teacher who comes in to school once a week to work with individuals and small groups. The choir sing at many events and venues and our sports teams enjoy great success in local competitions.

We have excellent links with Robin Hood Infant School. We meet termly and try to plan many events and activities together. Transition for our prospective Year Three children is planned carefully and a number of visits are made before they join us, to make the move as smooth as possible.

Every member of our school community is supported, to be ready for their next stage. That may be transition to Y3 or Y7; newly qualified to subject leader; M6 to leadership or it might be trying something new; contributing in a meeting or asking for help.

Knowledge enables you to envisage an alternative. It’s not common sense; it is systematic and specialised so you can generalise and think beyond your context. We are all learners.

At Robin Hood Juniors we enjoy excellent technology resources to support learning with either Chromebooks in every classroom. We also make the most of our gardens and playground area.

I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our school.
