Overview

Rodbourne Cheney Primary School has 9 classes and our building dates from the Victoria era. This means we benefit from a lot of space and character!

Visitors always comment on how they feel the “buzz” when they enter our school and say how happy and welcoming the children and staff are. This is something we pride ourselves on.

Being a member of The White Horse Federation has had a positive impact on Rodbourne Cheney Primary School. We also hold TWHF events such as the Art / Science and Sports festivals where children compete. The children have also had the opportunity to work together on residentials, projects like the development of school meals and also through Governors. Staff also reap the rewards from being members of the TWHF as they receive excellent training to suit the needs of the school, have the opportunity to work with colleagues to discuss educational changes and pedagogy and also a wide professional network of colleagues to focus on learning.

Our Vision and Values

Rodbourne Cheney Primary School is an exciting, happy, and inspiring learning community. We strive for our children to be creative, innovative, and imaginative, and we are committed to the safety and care of our pupils. We have a team of committed and talented staff who provide well-planned and organised lessons, alongside a wide range of curriculum enrichment activities to further enhance children’s learning.

Our aim is to provide the highest quality education for all in a caring, supportive, inclusive, and vibrant learning environment. We are proud to offer an exciting curriculum where teachers and pupils work together to ensure high-quality teaching and learning that is challenging and thought provoking in order for everyone to achieve their potential and beyond.

We encourage our pupils to be confident individuals and independent learners, and to develop a lively and enquiring mind. We also want children to develop the ability to question and discuss rationally and apply themselves to tasks and skills as they strive to reach their true potential in all aspects of school life.

We are very proud of being a values-based education school. Values-based education inspires children and young people to adopt positive human values. The focus on values supports deepened relationships and gives our students the best chance of academic success.

At Rodbourne Cheney Primary School, we follow a Values-based Education (VbE) curriculum. Values Education supports the teaching of social, moral, spiritual, cultural and personal wellbeing. It is interwoven in to all elements of school life and embedded in our curriculum. It contributes to excellent learning and outstanding environments for learning. It also supports positive behaviours and good attitudes to learning.

The White Horse Federation

The White Horse Federation, made in Swindon, founded in 2012

The White Horse Federation is a Multi Academy Trust of primary schools, secondary and special schools. The federation grew from a passion to be collaborative in providing a first class education to a wide range of children so that each one could more fully understand what they were capable of, what talents they had and to strive for excellence in themselves in order to succeed in the next phase of their education and in the world of work.

At its heart is a belief that we want to develop the type of schools that we would be proud to send our own children to. We do this with a relentless drive for academic excellence blended with a shared moral purpose and shared values but also with an awful lot of fun and happiness in our schools. We genuinely believe in partnership working with our schools, the pupils and their parents and the wider community each serves to create the best possible outcomes for our children.

We also believe that our colleagues are among the finest in the country and we are proud to empower them through support, training and career opportunities. With such outstanding staff we are able to ensure every student achieves all that they are capable of and more, regardless of background, culture, heritage or ability.
