Ruskin Junior School is a large, vibrant, and friendly junior school where our core beliefs centre around instilling a love of and a passion for learning . We believe in teaching skills, sharing knowledge and creating an environment from which special memories and moments can be taken away and cherished for a lifetime. Our curriculum is fresh, rich and diverse, with a single ‘Big Idea’ at its core. Aspects of the curriculum such as English and science revolve around a central concept which is designed to spark the passion to learn, instil curiosity and evoke the will to enquire: the 'Big Idea' forms the platform from which teachers can plan and administer a creative and inspirational curriculum.  Our school’s value changes termly and is a constant thread that runs through the curriculum, binding our ethos to what happens in the classroom; they are designed to instill a strong sense of responsibility and citizenship, essential qualities in preparing our fledgling generation for the future. 

The site is very well resourced, with a forest school area, large grass playing field, sprung floor dance studio, stage with full lighting facilities, outside play-barn and a state-of-the-art 3G football pitch. The whole school community is extremely proud of its resources and we do our utmost to ensure they are accessible to all children as often as possible.

To recognise children‘s potential by providing equal opportunities that promote learning, enthusiasm, creativity and achievement. Through supporting the development of every child, we recognise the existence of all round ability and those who may be talented in a specific area. In meeting the needs of the GMA pupil, we aim to encourage all children to explore their talents, exercise their capacity to learn and understand, and to develop their self-confidence. We will aim to celebrate their achievements and challenge children to perform to the best of their ability.
