About us

The SGS Pegasus School is named after its main sponsor but also links to the proud advanced technological heritage of the area as Pegasus was the engine which powered the Harrier Jump Jet. It will be a Free School for young people with a Statement of Special Education Need (SEN) or an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for autism.

THE SCHOOL WILL BE FOR BOYS AND GIRLS FROM AGE 4 – 19 WITH AUTISM. ALL CHILDREN WILL HAVE A STATEMENT OF SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OR AN EDUCATION HEALTH AND CARE PLAN WHICH IDENTIFIES NEEDS RELATING TO THE AUTISM SPECTRUM

The project is sponsored by South Gloucestershire and Stroud Academy Trust (SGS College) and supported by the wider Concorde Partnership which consists of a group of secondary schools in South Gloucestershire (Bradley Stoke Community School, Abbeywood Community School and Patchway Community College as well as Bristol Technology and Engineering Academy). In addition, the project group are working in partnership with the local authority, existing South Gloucestershire special schools (Culverhill, Warmley Park, New Siblands, New Horizon's Learning Centre and Pathway Learning Centre ) and local resource bases (Abbeywood Academy 11-16, Hanham Woods Academy 11-16, Chipping Sodbury School 11-16, Blackhorse Primary 4-11 and Charborough Road Primary 4-11).

SGS Academy Trust are partnering with an outstanding special school and was awarded development funding from the New Schools Network, a charity that supports the development of Free Schools across England.

The pupils who will attend the SGS Pegasus School will have autism as their primary SEN. Any learning difficulties will be associated with their autism. We will provide access to a modified mainstream curriculum similar to other primary and secondary schools. Pupils who have severe learning difficulties as their primary need with autism as a secondary area will continue to be placed at New Siblands and Warmley Park special Schools.

Pupils who have complex learning difficulties as their primary need with autism as a secondary need will continue to attend Culverhill School.
