Overview

Springfield has for many years provided a warm and caring environment for all learners in our community. While this will always to be an essential characteristic of the school, our priority is to enable all children to achieve high academic standards. At Springfield Primary School we believe in setting the highest standards in everything we do.  We plan and tailor learning for each child, giving them access to a broad range of experiences to ensure that each and every child reaches their full potential.  We strive to develop respect amongst our children; respecting difference, respecting others and respecting themselves.

We aim to make the school day exciting and energising and yet set clear boundaries within which the children can explore and develop vital social skills. These are important values to hold but our overriding aims are simple.  We want each child to develop both a love of learning and the confidence to shape their lives as they wish. We are proud that our school is seen by the children as a fun place to be and where their opinions and ideas are valued.  This is echoed in the happy faces you will see around school, the comments from children and the feedback we get from parents. Springfield School is part of GLF Schools.

At the heart of our school are our three core values that underpin everything we strive to achieve together.

Learn, Thrive, Enjoy Together To learn - For children to develop and gain new skills and acquire new knowledge through different learning experiences To thrive - For children to grow, develop and flourish into lifelong learners To enjoy - For children to take delight and pleasure in their learning experience, develop a love for learning and enjoy their time at Springfield Together - Working in partnership with all stakeholders enables better outcomes for all pupils We are passionate about providing children with state of the art resources and each classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and projector. We also benefit from having a bank of laptops and tablets in addition to an ICT suite and a number of digital resources such as web-cams, Ipods and visualisers to enhance learning. As an academy within GLF Schools we benefit from sharing outstanding resources and support in every aspect of school life, from learning and teaching to staffing and educational expertise. We also have a commitment to develop strong links with the local secondary schools.

Working for Us

So why would you enjoy working for us? Ofsted details that the "Senior leadership is very strong. Each leader brings valuable experience and insight. Their individual responsibilities are carefully dovetailed together. Rightly, their work carries the confidence of staff and, increasingly, parents. School leaders, and staff, show huge commitment to improving the provision and outcomes for pupils, and this improvement is very real." Our priority is to enable all children to achieve high academic standards. We will also make sure that they develop a sense of social responsibility and a passion for learning. Our school is conveniently located 350 yards from Upper Halliford Railway Station, and just off the M3. So, what are the benefits of working for a school in the GLF family of schools? We are a group of schools rooted in providing the best possible education for children and we are not motivated by ‘making a profit’. This means we enable each Headteacher and their team of leaders to ensure that the work of their school is of the highest standard allowing children and young people to have high aspirations. We continually offer excellent CPD opportunities as well as supported career development across the family of schools. Over the past three years, we have trained and developed 15 leaders who have been promoted to headship, deputy headship, assistant headship and school business managers. Our family of schools regularly network and collaborate to share insight, expertise and best practice not only within our own family but also beyond. (For example last term, Glyn School hosted an Independent Thinking ‘Big Day Out’, where some of the UK’s leading educational innovators, thinkers, authors and practitioners came together to share ideas, insights and strategies.)

Local Area

Sunbury-on-Thames, also known as Sunbury, is a town in the Surrey borough of Spelthorne, and part of the London commuter belt. It is located 16 miles (25 km) southwest of central London and bordered by Feltham and Hampton, flanked on the south by the River Thames. Sunbury has two areas divided by the M3. Lower Sunbury, colloquially known as Sunbury Village, borders the river Thames and makes up the southern portion of the town. This area is largely residential suburban and includes the majority of Sunbury's schools and open parkland. The northern section is Sunbury Common and houses many of Sunbury's businesses.

Headteacher's Welcome

Deciding on the primary school that a child attends is one of the most important decisions parents make as they will be helping to lay the foundations for a lifetime of learning. Parents will want to ensure that the school they decide upon is a caring and happy environment, and that the teaching staff are engaged and motivated to support your child.

You are likely to want to read our latest Ofsted report and this can be found on our website.  Since our last inspection we have continued to move forward in raising the standards of achievement in the school.

I would welcome you to take the opportunity to visit the school to see for yourself.
