As a Church of England School we have a strong commitment to the teaching of Christianity and Spiritual developmentwhilst recognising the need for a multifaith approach to the curriculum.
We seek to achieve high standards as well as nurturing children’s spiritual, physical and social development. Our overall aim is to enable each child to succeed and attain his / her potential, irrespective of age or ability. The most effective way to achieve this aim is through promoting inquiry and curiosity, enthusiasm and challenge, sharing and learning together, openness and persistence.
At all times the needs of children whatever their ability, are catered for through careful differentiation and task. Pupils with Special Educational Needs are helped within the classroom and may be offered support from our highly effective Teaching Assistants. Our Special Needs co-ordinator is happy to speak to you about general issues related to special needs, if the class teacher cannot answer your questions.
Our school is a community that values everything to do with the learning process. We believe that effective learning takes place when children are able to work in a calm, purposeful and stimulating environment.Guiding children in their learning is a great privilege as well as being a responsibility.
At St Bartholomew’s we want learning to be meaningful and memorable. We believe it is important to make connections between different subjects and to link elements of learning so that children see a purpose to what they are doing in each lesson.
Effective learning will encourage independence, motivation, problem solving, resourcefulness, social skills and enjoyment in learning. These are the skills of lifelong learners.
Extra Curricular Learning
There are lots of extra curricular activities to join in with at lunchtimes and after school.
Football, Cross Country, ICT,Dance, International Club, Twitchers, Gardening and Choir are just some of the clubs on offer during the course of the school week.
We believe it is important to connect learning with first –hand experiences whenever possible.
Educational visits help to extend children’s learning and we regularly visit the City Centre, Coventry Cathedral, the Transport Museum and Partnership Centres in support of topics covered.
Our pupils particularly enjoy their visits to the Forest School which is on the school site. Here they learn about the world of nature, science and how to work co-operatively and safely.
Key Stage 2 pupils take part in annual residential visits to Coventry’s outdoor centre in Maentwrog, North Wales.
