Overview

Our epilepsy school is a 52 week non-maintained residential special school, with a specialism in supporting pupils with epilepsy and other neurological and health conditions. We support pupils from 5-19 years old, with complex learning difficulties and who may experience additional needs such as Autistic Spectrum Disorder or other physical, communication or behavioural needs. There are currently 38 pupils on roll; 31 of which are residential pupils and 7 are day pupils.

About Us

Here at St Elizabeth's all young people are valued and are supported yet challenged to develop their knowledge, skills and learning both within the classroom and through our extensive programme of activities.

We aim to help our young people grow in confidence, as they acquire skills that support their independence, health and self esteem. We aim to empower our learners, build their self confidence, self care and independence.

St Elizabeth's School is celebrating significant success in the recent inspections of our provision. St Elizabeth's School received a two day inspection in September 2014, where we were judged to be Good across all areas of the inspection. Key strengths have been shown in good management and leadership, good quality of teaching, strong assessment procedures and positive feedback on planning, achievement and progress.

The school also received a Welfare Inspection in March 2014. The residential provision was judged as Outstanding across all areas of the inspection. Key strengths were highlighted to be the integration of the School with its residential provision, development of confidence and independence skills, prioritisation of safeguarding and pupil welfare and effective and efficient management. This result is the 6th consecutive welfare inspection to be judged Outstanding.

School Motto - " To live and learn as friends together, to share, give and love"

Spirituality

Religious Education is taught by all teachers and supported by our full time Chaplain. Our Centre chapel is used frequently for mass and our prayer room(s) gives anyone the opportunity for quiet reflection throughout the day. Students are also given the opportunity to study for, and receive the sacraments of communion and confirmation.

Weekly assemblies form the focus of our Religious Education, with all children being given the opportunity to organise and participate on a regular basis. All assemblies begin with the whole school sharing our core value statement:

To live and learn as friends together

To Share and Give and Love

As our most recent Section 48 inspection, which was 'Outstanding', noted "St Elizabeth’s is a fully inclusive community that is “growing together in love to make the world a better place for all.” (Diocese of Westminster Section 48 Inspection Report, January 2011).

Regular meetings and reviews with the Diocesan advisers ensure that we are kept up to date and our standards are maintained.
