St. Katherine’s School –
The best place for young people to learn and grow up in
St. Katherine’s School offers students a unique learning environment often only experienced in the independent sector. The school is located in a beautiful rural environment with just under 900 students on roll, including a tremendously successful sixth form. St. Katherine’s sits on the edge of Bristol, only 2 miles from the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The school is supported by strong transport links, just off one of the main arterial routes to Bristol and close to the M5. Students at St. Katherine’s come from a wide variety of schools with 75% of students coming from Bristol primaries. The most recent Ofsted report described “Students at St. Katherine's as confident, articulate, and thoughtful young people who show pride in their school and respect for one another.” One student commented, 'I can't imagine a better place to grow up.'
St. Katherine's High Performing Success
In September 2009, St. Katherine's was invited to graduate as a High Performing Specialist School. This has proved to be a brilliant opportunity for the students and its community as it has allowed the staff and governors to choose Applied Learning as a second specialism, to compliment the excellent work the school has been doing as a Science College since 2003. Stephanie Quayle, Headteacher, said “This is a very exciting time for us as a school, taking on a second specialism will add tremendous value to all our students. We have also been appointed as a Lead School for Gifted and Talented recognising that we believe in a culture of excellence. We believe all students should be challenged, inspired, and empowered by learning, ensuring that above all else that the classroom should be an engaging, inspiring place to learn.”
