I am delighted to welcome you to St Richard's School. I hope you find this website useful. I understand what an important decision choosing your child's primary school is so I am always happy to meet parents in person to show them around and discuss what makes our school special.
We are so lucky to benefit from a large site - well laid out buildings; fantastic playing fields; a school allotment and our very own swimming pool. All recently upgraded to be fully accessible to all children.
However, we feel that what really sets us apart is not our physical environment but the purposeful, friendly, nurturing atmosphere that all visitors to our school comment upon. This comes from our strong, inclusive Christian ethos and desire that every child should achieve their absolute best in a place where they are both valued and challenged in equal measure.
Our motto 'Bold, Bright and Beautiful' perfectly encapsulates the pupils in our school. They challenge themselves; try their best; have great fun and live school life to the full. We have high aspirations for all our pupils and believe that through stretching children we build their confidence and self-esteem.
The school is positioned in the centre of Ham and, with this in mind, we constantly look for opportunities to serve our local community, helping to shape its future through the children who attend our school. Central to my purpose is that the children here learn to give from the heart, in response to the needs of others, rather than out of obligation.
The school gathers daily to reflect upon important issues, to worship together and to consider the Christian principles that are at the heart of our ethos. Within this loving, compassionate environment, we find that teaching and learning are all the more effective right across the curriculum.
We welcome prospective parents who would like to visit. I hope that you will be amongst them and very much look forward to welcoming you to our school.
