There are four floors of classrooms in the main teaching block. Also in this building is the main hall, which can seat 450 students for assembly and which can be extended to accommodate another 150 on the balcony should the need arise.
Art, Music & Design Technology are accommodated in a linked building completed in 1973. Music has its own suite, with two fully-refurbished music rooms and practice accommodation. Art has three specialist rooms including a ceramics studio, and two smaller rooms for 6th Form work. Design Technology accommodation comprises five rooms in this building and three more in the main building, all equipped to meet the needs of the National Curriculum.
Information and Communication Technology is used widely throughout the school. There are five fully-equipped ICT rooms in our Resources Centre, each with enough computers to teach a whole class, and all other classrooms in the school are connected to the school network, which has internet facilities. All student have access to their own area on the network to which they can gain access by using a password. The Resources Centre also house a large, purpose-built School Library and accommodation for Careers Education and Guidance throughout the school.
Our 6th Form centre, opened in November 1998 contains not only accommodation for our large 6th Form, but Geography and History classrooms, our Community Education office and an impressive Performing Arts Studio. This imaginative building is a tribute to our committed and progressive local education policy.
