Overview

King Alfred School is a thriving 11-18 mixed comprehensive, Local Authority School with 1326 students on roll serving the town of Burnham on Sea, Highbridge and surrounding villages.

All new staff and NQTs are offered a full induction programme on their arrival. NQTs receive a 10% reduced timetable in line with statutory policy, as well as weekly mentor meetings and also termly meetings with the senior member of staff in charge of staff development. We also operate an informal buddy system where by all new staff are matched with a member of staff outside of their department to act as an additional layer of support. We pride ourselves on providing excellent staff induction and are always seeking to improve this area.
