The PLT is a Multi-Academy trust which supports primary and secondary schools in the South West of England.

About us

The Priory Learning Trust is a successful teacher-training school.

In 2016 it was awarded the prestigious National Teaching School status - a rare accolade after it fulfilled a wide range of criteria in training teachers and supporting other schools.

To become a teaching school, schools must be judged outstanding and have a proven track record of delivering exceptional teacher training and supporting other schools.

Teaching schools are part of the government’s drive to give schools more freedom.

In addition, trainee teachers learn from the best teachers, supported by a culture of coaching and mentoring.

  • Professional development is predominantly school-based and classroom focused. Teachers, support staff and leaders improve through exposure to excellent practice within and beyond their immediate school, through observation, mentoring, coaching, practice, reflection and sharing with peers
  • Talent development and distributed leadership are the norm
  • Staff demonstrating potential are encouraged to lead and are given structured and stretching opportunities to grow and develop
  • Leaders have local knowledge and can identify where key resources and expertise lie

As well as offering training and support, teaching schools will identify and co-ordinate expertise in partner schools, using the best leaders and teachers to:

  • Play a greater role in recruiting and training new entrants to the profession (initial teacher training)
  • Lead peer-to-peer professional and leadership development (continuing professional development)
  • Identify and develop leadership potential (succession planning and talent management)
  • Provide support for other schools
  • Designate and broker specialist leaders of education (SLEs)
  • Engage in research and development activity

Priory Community School - An Academy

PCSA is an 'outstanding' academy in Worle, a suburb of Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset for ages 11 to 16.

OFSTED rated Priory 'outstanding' in all categories in November 2014.

GCSE Results 2015 - 70% 5AC with English and maths - maths 81% and English 88% - (32% A and A*). In 2014 that figure was 72% 5AC with English and maths - a really consistent 5 year trend - 69/70/75/72/70.

PCSA is a happy school where students feel valued, cared for and supported. Small class sizes and exceptional teaching and staff are also fundamental components of its success.

Worle Community School – An Academy

Worle Community School is a coeducational foundation secondary school located in Worle, a suburb of Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset for ages 11 to 16. There are currently 1,490 students at the school.

Worle Community School was founded in 1850 located at Spring Hill, which is now the present site of St Martin's C of E Junior School. In 1971, it moved to Redwing Drive. It became the first school in the county of Somerset to be purposely built as a Comprehensive School and also became one of the first schools in the former Avon county as an Investor in People. In 2002, the school was renamed to Worle Community School in relation to its service to the community of the village of Worle.

Castle Batch Primary School Academy

Castle Batch is an exciting, forward thinking and dynamic primary academy, which Ofsted has recently judged to be ‘good’ (November 2017). Ofsted said, ‘Castle Batch is an inclusive school, characterised by very good relationships and a caring ethos’. 

We have very committed staff who work creatively, in partnership with parents, to enable children to achieve great outcomes.   

We are part of The Priory Learning Trust, comprising of local primary and secondary schools, enabling us to work closely with a range of practitioners from all phases of education. This is a very exciting time for Castle Batch and a great time to join us.

The King Alfred School

We are a school with a long history of providing education for the children of Highbridge, Burnham on Sea and the surrounding areas. We pride ourselves on ensuring that every child achieves their potential, both academically and socially during their time with us. We are a school at the heart of our community and we believe that it is our role to develop the next generation into successful citizens.

The King Alfred School is a happy school where staff and students enjoy working together. Pawlett Primary School Academy

Our vision at Pawlett Primary School Academy is that all children can succeed regardless of their background and it is our moral imperative that we offer a great school for all. We wholeheartedly believe in a ‘Learning without Limits’ approach to education, where children are encouraged to challenge themselves in order to develop confident, independent thinkers who are self-motivated and eager to learn at all stages. Our passion is in offering an enjoyable and meaningful education; our aim is to create life-long learners of our future generations.

We work particularly closely with St Anne's Church Academy, in fact our Executive Head is their Head teacher!

We have a great school at Pawlett where academic standards continue to improve, children love coming to school and where families can confidently opt to send their children.

Our school vision is that all members of the school community are encouraged to ‘Learn to Love…and to Love to Learn’. We encourage and develop this through our Learning without Limits approach to education. Through this everyone is encouraged to challenge themselves in their learning and make the choices that are right for them in their stage of their educational journey.

We believe that every child is ‘intelligent and extraordinary’ and that as Kurt Hahn says ‘There is more in every person than you might expect.’ Our role as educators is to create the optimum environment for everyone to be inspired to learn both now and in the future. Our Vision

The Priory Learning Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust of primary and secondary schools – and in time (we hope) special schools. This will add real inclusivity to our Trust.

The PLT grew from a passion to bring the power of partnership and sharing to bear and provide a first-class education to a wide range of children, of all abilities and social class groupings, in WSM and especially in North Worle.

We believe that this approach will create happy, confident, and high-achieving students. This truly collaborative approach will also develop great staff relationships and improve staff wellbeing. It will healthy challenge and healthy competition.
