Overview

The PLT is a Multi-Academy trust which supports primary and secondary schools in the South West of England.

At our heart is a passion to put Students First and deliver exceptional education, beyond outstanding for every single child.

We do this with a relentless drive for academic excellence, shared moral purpose and values, and lots of fun and happiness.

Happy schools are also high-achieving successful schools.

We strive for partnerships between students, parents, carers, staff and the wider community to create exceptional student outcomes.

And we also Cherish Staff, believe they are amazing, and are passionate to empower them through support, training and career opportunities.

With such brilliant people all aiming for the same goals, we are able to ensure every student achieves all that they are capable of and more, regardless of background or ability.

About us

The Priory Learning Trust is a successful teacher-training school.

In 2016 it was awarded the prestigious National Teaching School status - a rare accolade after it fulfilled a wide range of criteria in training teachers and supporting other schools.

To become a teaching school, schools must be judged outstanding and have a proven track record of delivering exceptional teacher training and supporting other schools.

Teaching schools are part of the government’s drive to give schools more freedom.

In addition, trainee teachers learn from the best teachers, supported by a culture of coaching and mentoring.

  • Professional development is predominantly school-based and classroom focused. Teachers, support staff and leaders improve through exposure to excellent practice within and beyond their immediate school, through observation, mentoring, coaching, practice, reflection and sharing with peers
  • Talent development and distributed leadership are the norm
  • Staff demonstrating potential are encouraged to lead and are given structured and stretching opportunities to grow and develop
  • Leaders have local knowledge and can identify where key resources and expertise lie

As well as offering training and support, teaching schools will identify and co-ordinate expertise in partner schools, using the best leaders and teachers to:

  • Play a greater role in recruiting and training new entrants to the profession (initial teacher training)
  • Lead peer-to-peer professional and leadership development (continuing professional development)
  • Identify and develop leadership potential (succession planning and talent management)
  • Provide support for other schools
  • Designate and broker specialist leaders of education (SLEs)
  • Engage in research and development activity

Our Schools

Priory Community School - An Academy

PCSA is an 'outstanding' academy in Worle, a suburb of Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset for ages 11 to 16.

Ofsted visited in November 2014 and graded us as ‘outstanding’ in all areas – overall effectiveness, behaviour and safety, leadership and management, achievement, quality of teaching and early years. This was clearly a great outcome for us and richly deserved for all staff, students and Governors.

PCSA is a happy school where students feel valued, cared for and supported. Our recent success stems from our ethos of ‘STUDENTS FIRST – CHERISHING STAFF’.  Exceptional teaching and staff members are also fundamental components of its success.

Worle Community School – An Academy

WCSA is a secondary academy located in Worle, a suburb of Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset for ages 11 to 16.

WCSA is committed to being a highly successful Academy whose core belief is that every child really does matter. In seeking to fulfil this commitment we believe that we should make use of all the opportunities that are presented to us to ensure that our young people, and indeed our staff, parents, governors and wider community, are exposed to the best possible opportunities for learning and personal growth and that they are provided with appropriate support and challenge as and when they need it. In short, WCSA seeks to be: 'A safe, secure and happy school, providing stimulus and challenge, where students achieve their full potential'

St Annes Church Academy

St Anne's Church Academy is continuing to expand at our West Wick campus until we become a 420 dual campus primary school in September 2020. We are blessed to be a dual campus church school near Weston-Super-Mare in North Somerset. Our campus @Hewish is over 150 years old and our campus @West Wick opened in January 2015.

Both campuses cater for children from Reception up until Year Six and our West Wick campus also has a day nursery for children aged from 2 years and 6 months until they go to school. This nursery is situated within our school and is open for 50 weeks a year between 8am-6pm.    In April 2018, we joined The Priory Learning Trust.

If you share our belief in learning without limits and you feel you can make a positive difference to our school then we want to hear from you.  Visits to the school are strongly encouraged and warmly welcomed.
