To identify a learning pathway for each child or young person based on an accurate assessment of current learning abilities that takes into consideration the social and emotional wellbeing of the pupil.

To use strategies that support and enable pupils to reintegrate into a learning environment that enhances their choices and further develops motivation to learn.

To achieve the best progress possible in all aspects of learning.

To identify and practise  strategies and skills for learning and life ahead that enable our pupils to be as independent as possible.

To support our pupils' social, moral, spiritual and cultural needs.

About Us

We are a medium-sized medical pupil referral unit situated in Tadworth in specialist accommodation in the grounds of The Children's Trust, an independent residential charitable trust specialising in the care of profoundly disabled children and in rehabilitation programmes for children with a recently acquired brain injury.

All our pupils have special educational needs including complex medical needs and the need for intensive therapies. It is likely that many of our pupils will need to be assessed for a Statement of Special Educational Needs while they are resident at the Children's Trust.

As part of the multi-professional team we contribute to the assessment of the pupils' needs and provide an integrated personal programme.

We aim to address the specific special educational requirements of the children and young people providing strategies to help mitigate the particular difficulties that this type of injury can cause.

Some children and young people return to their mainstream school and others may transfer to a different or more specialised setting.

We support the pupils’ placements by training staff in educational strategies enabling the children and young people to successfully integrate and fulfil their educational potential.
