At Thorpe Lea Primary School our goal is to develop caring and responsible young citizens for the future, who learn how to develop their independence and take on shared responsibility for their own learning and progress. Our pupils learn to protect, and to make a contribution to, the wonderful world which we all share. They are encouraged to achieve their full potential in all they do, to enjoy life and to celebrate our school values. Most of our pupils spend eight years with us, starting in our purpose built Nursery, and progressing through the school to Year 6. All our pupils from the very youngest know, demonstrate and uphold our school values both in school life and in the wider community.

Our values are at the heart of everything we do:

  • High Expectations: in our behaviour, our school work, our homework and our everything we do.
  • Respect: for each other, for property, for nature and for the wider world we share.
  • Teamwork: our strong belief in working together to achieve the best possible result, sharing ideas and strengths.
  • Diversity: a profound belief that we treat everyone as our equal, celebrating difference and the strengths it brings.
  • Nurturing Care: the knowledge that our school offers us a safe and supportive environment on which to thrive and progress.
  • Curiosity: to encourage our pupils to ask questions, research and discover for themselves, and to help determine their own learning journey
  • Creativity: to develop our own our creativity and our ability to solve problems by applying our knowledge.
