Overview

On behalf of pupils, staff and governors I would like to welcome you to Uplands Junior L.E.A.D Academy

At Uplands Junior L.E.A.D Academy our aim is to become a community of life-long learners; we want children to strive for excellence, be aspirational, be confident, kind and caring and know that they are valued. Our Ofsted report in March 2019 affirmed that ‘Leaders are building a curriculum that helps pupils to build on what they already know.’

I am very proud to be the Headteacher of Uplands Junior L.E.AD Academy, the school has a great feel to it. We teach the National Curriculum but are constantly reviewing and refining the way we do this so that the curriculum is the best it can be for the children. Children’s learning and development are at the centre of everything we do. Parents are encouraged to be closely involved in their child’s education.

Our staff are an enthusiastic, dedicated team of professionals, committed to strive the very best for each and every child within our care.

Mrs Lucy Carlisle

Academy:   "I feel privileged to be part of the teaching staff at Uplands Junior L.E.A.D. Academy. We are a happy and supportive community, dedicated in every aspect to the children in our care. Both in my teaching role and in my role as 'Reading Champion', Uplands has provided me with the opportunity to take on new challenges for professional development and make a real, and valued, difference. We have a hardworking and supportive leadership team who have a clear vision for the direction of the school. We are well resourced for teaching and learning, have experienced classroom support assistants and provide a rich variety of opportunities for our children. As a result, our children are happy, hard working and a credit to us. I would encourage anyone who is considering putting forward an application to join our team! It's a great place to be!"  Kathryn Corby Teacher Year 5 Leader "I have been here almost two years teaching in year 3 which has been an enjoyable and positive experience.

The staff are welcoming and the well behaved children are a joy to teach. I feel that I have developed immensely as a teacher since I started my NQT year in Uplands." Farhaana Choudhury Teacher Year 3 Leader "Uplands is a vibrant school with 482 children. Children are keen to learn and improve in areas they find difficult. Children like to take an active part in school life such as lunch clubs and assemblies. They often take on additional responsibilities such as monitors for corridors, play areas or activities which happen in non teaching times." Ternia Wood PE Teacher We're always interested to hear from enthusiastic, committed teachers - send us your CV now via our School Talent Pool and say what sort of role you're looking for.  By joining our School Talent Pool we'll know you're interested in working here when a future vacancy occurs.
