Overview

AIMS

Walsh C. of E. Junior School promotes a dynamic learning environment, in which children are supported, respected, encouraged and motivated as individuals.

All staff aim to provide a safe, secure and loving environment, for life long learning, which reflects the Christian ethos of the school.

We aim for the development of excellent relationships with parents, as we believe that our link with a child’s home is vital for their education.

Children are given an understanding of their role as a citizen, in an ever-changing and multicultural world.

Every child is valued, and every achievement celebrated, in order that a sense of pride is a feature of our learning community.

High quality teaching, which is meaningful and relevant to the children, is planned to challenge all abilities.

The curriculum is broad, creative and stimulating whilst equipping children with the necessary basic skills for life in the 21st Century.

About Us

Walsh C E Junior School is a large three form entry school, with a lively, friendly and enthusiastic staff. The school is committed to continuous professional development.

Our mission statement is "It is not enough for a child to be loved, they must know they are loved." This permeates every area of school life, and summarises the commitment that every member of staff gives to the children.

The ethos of the school is one of mutual respect and warmth. The children are supported in the nurturing of all their talents, both academic and personal, and each and every child is valued as a unique individual. Our school upholds Christian values, and children are given frequent opportunities for reflection.

We have a strong belief that all pupils are entitled to a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum, and all staff strive to make learning an enjoyable and relevant experience. Teachers are committed to raising standards in teaching and learning, and all work hard to ensure that all children have opportunities to reach their full potential.

We value close partnerships between home and school and believe that it is only by working together that we can ensure children make good academic and social progress. We have clear and consistent expectations of behaviour, and our

Golden Rules encourage children to make positive behaviour choices, and also to take responsibility for their own actions. Praise and rewards for appropriate choices is a key feature of our school.
