Head's Welcome

On behalf of the Governors, the staff, the pupils and myself it gives me great pleasure, as Headteacher, to welcome you to the Westrop Primary and Nursery School website. We hope that browsing our site will give you a glimpse of who we are and what we do.

I am immensely proud to be the Headteacher of our school. I have had the pleasure of working at Westrop Primary school for over 16 years. Since then there have been many changes: expanding to take more children to meet the needs of our town; having additional classrooms built to accommodate our extra pupils; the opening of our Nursery classes enabling us to give high-quality education to children from 2 years old.

I feel privileged to lead a team of high quality, motivated and committed staff who provide well-planned and organised lessons and activities. We are proud of the wide range of curriculum enrichment activities including Forest School, nurture groups and yoga that are provided to enhance children’s learning and give children an opportunity to develop their learning beyond the classroom.

Our school’s strengths lie in its caring environment that encourages teamwork and empathy with others. Children blossom into independent thinkers, who feel strongly about fairness to others.

We believe that every child should be nurtured in a safe environment and encouraged to achieve their full potential. Our dedicated staff and governors work hard to support our children both academically and socially. We strive to create a happy, stimulating and caring school.

Vision and Values

b020.jpg

We are proud of our core school values, each of our values has a story which is introduced each term and help to fully embed the true meaning. Our values underpin our learning characteristics and behaviour.

We believe in every single individual in our school community, together we want to create a vision that would reflect this ethos.

Once our vision was in place, we wanted to ensure that everyone understood our school community and the core values which underpin it. We needed to ensure that the values we chose reflected the current climate, encourage our learners to succeed and foster kindness in our diverse community of learners.

Our values became;

Respect

Empowerment

Nurture

Trust and

Honesty
