At Wetherby High School all our staff are deeply committed to ensuring every child receives an outstanding education. Our curriculum, teaching and pastoral care enable students to achieve at the highest academic level, unlocking doors to the future of their choice.

Our staff and students are ambitious to be the best version of themselves. That ambition extends way beyond their academic excellence. We want our students to reach their full potential academically and as young people moving into adulthood. We understand that central to this is developing character and a sense of social responsibility.

Our Coaching System allows us to know each student well as individuals, their likes and dislikes, their strengths and insecurities, their interests, pets and favourite TV programmes. It means as a Coach you can be there for them on the good and bad days. The relationships formed in Coaching allow the students to feel they belong to the school community. That belonging brings happiness, safety and a platform from which to challenge themselves in their education.

This is a place where young people can be successful not only in their schoolwork but also in their school life. We have so many opportunities for students – and secondary school is the perfect time for them to experiment and discover where their interests and passions lie.

We place the children and their personal success at the heart of all our work which means that sometimes we do not take the easiest path, but the path that is right for each individual child. We know that when a child feels safe, happy and supported they thrive. We are truly proud that our work in this area was signified as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

This is a place where young people can be successful not only in their schoolwork but also in their school life.

The school has successfully recruited and developed an exceptional team of dedicated and committed professionals who live up to the aspirations we have on a daily basis.

Together we have reshaped the curriculum, remodelled the pastoral structure and reformed the values, ethos and direction of the school. Placing children and their personal success at the heart of work means that sometimes we do not take the easiest path, but the path that is right for each individual child.

We are always keen to hear from individuals who have the passion and enthusiasm we share to make a positive difference in the education of our students. We also welcome interest from professionals looking to teach across all curriculum areas, in particular English, Maths and Science.

About Us

At Wetherby High School we have four key values to ensure every child can reach the best possible outcomes:

  • Know our children well: Having conversations with our students throughout the week, in coaching sessions, during Flexible Learning, and in lessons, means we get to know them really well. They also know the staff and each other and build strong relationships that equip them with the life skills they need to reach their goals.
  • Partners in learning: At Wetherby High School we have a personal approach learning and pupils respond well to the curriculum and achieve because they have played a key part in building and developing their learning. As partners in learning, staff and students, working with outside agencies like businesses and other schools and colleges, work together closely to make the school experience positive and rewarding.
  • Enjoy and aspire: As a result of this partnership in learning, pupils often exceed their aims in school, irrespective of their starting point. We are an inclusive school and our staff team is equipped to support and encourage progress whatever your child’s level of need. Our commitment to the school’s sense of community means that any issues are addressed quickly, and this safe learning environment allows students to enjoy their time in school and achieve the outcomes they want for the future.
  • Character for achievement: Sometimes learning can be difficult and challenges will emerge for many children, but there is always support and guidance available. Our dedicated team of staff encourages, guides, and supports students to develop and demonstrate character for achievement skills and dispositions, such as teamwork and resilience.
