Winchcombe School is a school that is genuinely unique. We are located in the most beautiful and peaceful of rural surroundings, yet close to historic Winchcombe itself, with easy transport links to Cheltenham. We are a friendly, family school, with approximately 500 students. All schools are not the same, and Winchcombe School can provide the care, support and expertise that each child needs to excel. Ofsted has recognised the caring family atmosphere that allows individuals to thrive, leading to an excellent reputation among parents - ‘high proportions believe their children are happy in school and would recommend the school to others.’ BehaviourThe factor that sets Winchcombe School apart from most other schools is the ethos within the school that allows excellent relationships between teachers and pupils.  This is turn leads to exceptional behaviour, not only in lessons, but in and around the school. Ofsted praised students’ outstanding behaviour in their latest report. Like all of us, the pupils of Winchcombe School enjoy being rewarded and we recognise this. To ensure that we encourage excellence in behaviour and academic achievement, we provide high achievers with various reward incentives. Academic StructureOnce again we aim to personalise all learning and aim to offer suitable courses for each individual. We provide a 3-day Induction Programme in the summer term for Year 6 students due to join us in September. They undertake various tests, the results of which are added to the information we receive from their primary schools, so that they can begin their life at Winchcombe School in the appropriate teaching groups. These groupings are reviewed on a regular basis in order to maintain pupil motivation. Our Aims To make Winchcombe School a school of excellence To provide every opportunity for pupils of all abilities to achieve their full academic potential. To support every child towards developing fully - personally, physically, socially and spiritually To ensure that every pupil feels safe, supported, confident and happy To build a learning partnership between pupils, parents, staff and governors To make a positive, constructive, compassionate and valuable contribution to the local and global community We continually strive to create a stable environment, ensuring that high standards of teaching and learning are maintained. Within this environment, our aim is to use the freedoms brought by Academy Status to lay down the foundations of new initiatives to further enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the school, thereby maximising the opportunities for all students to realise their full potential. FacilitiesIn addition to our sports facilities, our school hall has recently been extended and equipped with new sound and lighting equipment which parents raised funds to install. Winchcombe School Parents' Association (WiSPA) works actively with the school to raise funds for additional equipment to enhance pupils’ school life. Extra-Curricular ActivitiesWe believe that school doesn’t finish at 3.10pm every day and offer a range of activities including a variety of sports, with teams competing at local, district and county level. The Duke of Edinburgh Scheme is well established and there are regular day and residential trips; we have links with schools in Japan and Spain.  If you require further information please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Winchcombe School is a friendly 11-16 comprehensive academy school in a spectacular location in the Cotswolds. We pride ourselves on the personal touch, catering for the needs of all individuals both from a pastoral and academic point of view. Each student is given the opportunity to maximise their potential. Our facilities continue to improve as we strive to give our youngsters the best education possible. Recent years have seen the installation of a floodlit all-weather sports pitch, a drama/dance studio and new tennis courts. We have also invested in new technology and use Go4schools for students to check their timetable, attendance and homework from school or home. Parents have been signing in to the system to see what homework is being set, contribute to forums and check their child’s attendance and progress. Training is available to all parents on how to use the system.
