We pride ourselves in being a small school where all children are known, valued and their individual needs recognised and met. We currently have one class in Reception,Year 1, 2 and 3. Each year the school will increase its age range, adding an additional year group until it is an all through primary school with 210 pupils in September 2019. We will grow and learn together over the coming years and we want our pupils to be integral to the development of the school, its curriculum and its environment.

Our curriculum is developed to excite and motivate children with a range of topics and projects that are of interest to them and to which they can fully contribute to so that their learning is engaging, interactive and fun.  We have a large hall for assemblies, concerts and a range of clubs and activities for the children and our local community. There is easy access to local parks and the centre of town for trips, visits and events. Windmill Primary School truly is at the heart of its community.

AboutUs

‘We want our school to be a place where we play, learn and work hard and where we are cared for and looked after’ Ladybird Class, 2013 In our commitment to achieve the above we aim;

- To provide opportunities for every child to feel part of and be able to contribute to the school, local and global community through the teaching of rights and responsibilities

- To provide a rich and exciting curriculum which engages and motivates children and in which every child can develop fully as an individual and achieve their full potential - To develop motivated, inspired, independent children who have a love of learning and are curious to know more

- To provide a secure supportive environment where children can develop respect for themselves, others and their surroundings resulting in pride in themselves, their peers and their school and who are equipped to meet the changes and challenges in their life ahead. These aims are integral to all that we do along with our school values.

Our Values:

Respect yourself, treat others how you expect to be treated, look at the person you’re talking to; use the right sized voice, be kind, be fair, be honest, tell the truth, look after each other, look after our things, look after our school.

Aspiration: Aim high, believe in yourself, have ambitions, be enthusiastic, be positive about learning, be motivated. Integrity: Stand up for what you believe in, be sincere and mean what you say, be honest to yourself and others. Resilience: ‘have a go’ ‘take a risk’ ‘try again’, learn from your mistakes, take on challenges, reflect, recover. .

Working for Us

We have an informed and supportive Local Governing Body who work closely with our experienced and committed staff. We have an enthusiastic Parent Staff Association who arranges a series of fundraising activities over the year to benefit our children. Windmill Primary school is conveniently located 1 mile from Wokingham Railway Station, with many bus routes availble.

So, what are the benefits of working for a school in the GLF family of schools? We are a group of schools rooted in providing the best possible education for children and we are not motivated by ‘making a profit’. This means we enable each Headteacher and their team of leaders to ensure that the work of their school is of the highest standard allowing children and young people to have high aspirations. We continually offer excellent CPD opportunities as well as supported career development across the family of schools. Over the past three years, we have trained and developed 15 leaders who have been promoted to headship, deputy headship, assistant headship and school business managers. Our family of schools regularly network and collaborate to share insight, expertise and best practice not only within our own family but also beyond. (For example last term, Glyn School hosted an Independent Thinking ‘Big Day Out’, where some of the UK’s leading educational innovators, thinkers, authors and practitioners came together to share ideas, insights and strategies.)

We place emphasis on the vital role parents play in the education of their children and welcome parental involvement in all aspects of school life. We encourage parent, carers and other volunteers from the local community to become 'Reading Rangers' or 'Parent Helpers'.

We are continually forging strong links with our local community allowing us to offer a range of experiences to our children from church-led activities to executing after school clubs and sporting activities.

We value our relationship with our neighbouring schools, both primary and secondary, giving Windmill Primary School children the opportunity to mix with others and prepare them for their journey through education.
