Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to welcome you to Winterbourne Junior Girls’ School. Through this prospectus, I hope to give you a glimpse of our school, of our ethos, our values and the vision we have for the girls in our care. There is a strong focus on raising pupils’ aspirations. This is central to the school’s aims and the headteacher’s vision (Ofsted 2015)

Our vision is centred on three fundamental goals:

  • Aspirations,
  • Expectations,
  • No Excuses – VINCAM – ‘Together we Conquer’

It is my belief that these areas will enable us to improve our standards.

I believe that education is about developing the whole person: socially, emotionally, spiritually as well as academically. My aim is for us to work together to ensure that Winterbourne Junior Girls’ school provides excellent teaching and learning experiences in a happy and caring environment. By working together we can ensure that our girls enjoy their time here, make rapid progress and leave school equipped with the skills for lifelong learning. My expectations of the pupils, in terms of their achievement and behaviour, are very high.

I expect all members of the school community to uphold our values. I am sure you will agree that the girls’ ability to be successful in their learning is paramount and I am confident that you will support us in helping our girls to reach their goals. Our commitment to you is that, your daughter will be welcomed to Winterbourne Junior Girls’ School and leave with a broad and balanced breadth of knowledge and experience, ready to embrace the challenges of secondary school.

I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our school.

Yours sincerely

Mrs M Berkeley-Agyepong
