Overview

Our aim is to help our children to be the best that they can be, in all that they do. We want them to have respect for themselves, each other and the world around them. We also want them to be independent learners in order to prepare them for their next schools and the world of work beyond.

About Us

We are part of a federation of two Primary Schools,  our sister school, Richard Hill Church of England Voluntary Aided School is at Thurcaston. Woolden Hill Primary School has been established for 34 years. In that time we have gained a well respected reputation throughout the area for delivering fantastic results and giving children the best possible start in life. We pride ourselves on our high standards of teaching ensuring our children receive the best possible education as well as have an enjoyable school experience.

Woolden Hill Primary School is a vibrant school where children are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve endless possibilities. The children are at the heart of every decision we make to ensure that they are happy, confident and the opportunities that are provided for them are relevant to their needs, both now and in the future.

We pride ourselves on being a research informed school and engage in regular opportunities to learn about the latest developments in Teaching and Learning. We invest in staff CPD to ensure that all members of the school can develop. We visit other schools and find out about the best practise both within this country and beyond to ensure that we are ready for the next adventures the world of education has to offer.

Our unique setting allows our children to benefit from a range of experiences to enhance their learning. Our curriculum follows the drivers of past, present and future to allow our children to engage in the past to help learn about how they can be effective citizens both now and in the future. We have a vast outdoor area which allows for pond dipping, Forest Schools and additional learning opportunities. We can also walk to Bradgate Park for enhanced experiences in geography and science.

Shared Vision. Shared Values. One Aim.

Discovery Schools Academies Trust (DSAT) was incorporated on 13th June 2012 following an 18 month National Support School Partnership led by Kibworth Church of England Primary School. A formalised partnership was established with Parkland Primary School that raised outcomes for children in each school by sharing expertise as well as staff.

In September 2013 Sileby Redlands Primary School and in November 2013 Danemill Primary school joined the DSAT multi academy group. More recently we have seen the Trust grow further with Woolden Hill Primary School joining in June 2014 and Mowmacre Hill Primary School in September 2014. We now total six primary schools in the Leicestershire region with new schools also showing an interest to be part of the group.

The multi academy partnership is dedicated to improving learning and teaching by creating a culture that promotes excellence. The needs of all children are placed at the heart of all decision making regardless of the school that they attend.

Discovery Schools Academies Trust Ltd is led by Paul Stone, a National Leader of Education and supported by an executive board of directors drawn from the governing bodies of all member schools.
