Ysgol Calon Cymru is an 11-18 school in the heart of Powys with approximately 850 pupils and an active sixth form. We are proud of our pupils and expect them to work hard to achieve and then exceed their expectations.

Hello and welcome to the website of Ysgol Calon Cymru: the school at the heart of Wales. From the moment I took on the role in early 2020 it has been an honour to be the Head Teacher of Ysgol Calon Cymru. The generosity, warmth and care for others I see here on a daily basis makes me feel privileged to be a part of this remarkable school.

As our name so aptly refers to, Ysgol Calon Cymru is at the heart of this rich and vibrant community, and we thrive on the stability that this brings. This means that we all – pupils, parents, carers and our whole school staff – work together with trust, respect and a shared vision.

We are a 11-18 bilingual school, located in picturesque Powys. Our school is built across two campuses; Builth Wells Campus and Llandrindod Wells Campus with a sixth form centre at Llandrindodd Wells. 

Our vision includes giving all our learners the confidence to grow, to aim high, and to have aspiration for their own futures and self-worth. This is as important to us as delivering a high standard of teaching and learning across all areas of learning in our school. Our aspiration for our learners does not stop when they leave school, and so we must ensure that the experiences and opportunities provided at Ysgol Calon Cymru will benefit them in their future lives and career paths.
