THE ACADEMYOur Lady & St Edward Primary & Nursery Catholic Voluntary Academy accepts children between the ages of 3 and 11. The academy is conducted in accordance with the teaching and practice of the Catholic Church. It is the parish academy for the church of Our Lady & St Edward.
We admit Catholic children and children of Christian and other faiths whose parents request a Catholic education for their child (see admission criteria). At Our Lady & St Edward’s, we offer a high quality, balanced education based upon Christian values. There is a happy atmosphere where children are expected to work hard and to meet the high standards of behaviour and dress. The academy places great value on its partnership with parents. There are strong links between the academy and home, forged through the parish, newsletters, our web site, text messaging, assemblies and other activities and the ‘open door’ policy of the academy.Quotes from our Ofsted Report (October 2008)• ‘This is a good school…one delighted parent who’s views are echoed by others commented ‘I am extremely pleased with St. Edwards. I believe the school maintains excellent standards of behaviour and manners. I feel that all of the teachers and staff are compassionate working hard to ensure that such a diverse set of pupils feel comfortable and confident…’.• ‘The school has gained the respect of the community that it serves and works well with other schools and agencies, particularly to support curriculum development’.• ‘The curriculum strongly supports the pupil’s personal development with many valuable opportunities to promote their well-being. A key strength of the curriculum are the strong roots in the schools Catholic traditions and effective links with the community, particularly through the church which enables pupils to develop a sense of their place in society’
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate would be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
