About Our School

Venn Boulevard Centre is an alternative provision for vulnerable students in Year 7-11, in Hull and out of county areas.

Building on our expertise, we now provide education for boys and girls in our nurturing learning environment. We aim to provide pupils with a curriculum that is personalised and purposeful to ensure that all pupils reach their full potential.

The curriculum is broad and balanced at KS3 and KS4 offering a range of accredited courses and GCSEs.

We also have a small Post 16 provision for students who would like to re-sit any subjects and further extend their qualification portfolio. This includes students with an EHCP. The post 16 provision has a strong focus on employability, enrichment and enterprise.

Value and Ethos

Here at Venn Boulevard Centre we aim to instil the ambition to achieve in all of our pupils, and to provide them with the education, life skills and support which will enable them to become independent young people.

We want to inspire the best in everyone at Venn Boulevard Centre.

Our aim is for pupils to embrace the following attributes:

Confidence – we want pupils to be prepared to experiment and challenge themselves

Resilience – our pupils need to be prepared to change to meet new demands and not be afraid of making mistakes

Perseverance – our pupils need to challenge themselves not to give up at the first hurdle

We pride ourselves on being open to new ideas. We operate on the needs of each individual pupil and recognise the need for flexibility and to encompass new ways of thinking to ensure an effective and meaningful learning experience for all who attend.

We believe every pupil has the potential to succeed, and our style of teaching and learning promotes achievement while supporting self-esteem and confidence for a positive outlook.

The welfare and safety of our pupils and their children is paramount at Venn Boulevard Centre, and all precautions are taken to protect those in attendance.

Venn Academy Trust

Venn Academy Trust was formed in 2015 as a result of a strong collaborative partnership between two Headteachers, that at the time, represented four settings.

The range of Venn’s provision extends to other high quality extended services: home tuition for sick pupils, the behaviour outreach service and the Hull Royal Infirmary hospital classroom.

From the outset Venn has promoted excellent learning behaviour for all its pupils with a core focus on fostering pupil resilience in its mainstream and specialist teaching settings; resultantly, pupils make exceptional progress irrespective of starting points.

The research undertaken in Venn has secured success in developing a culture of positive learning behaviour that has revolutionised teaching in its schools. Venn are active participants in the regional and local Teaching School Alliances supporting other settings with learning behaviour delivery. In addition to this, the Trust has worked with a wide range of partners including universities to promote a culture of self-regulation in pupils.
