Although Kingsweston is a wonderfully diverse school located across four different locations in the north of Bristol, there are some fundamentals that are common to all sites and which inform our practice. Wherever a pupil is educated we will deliver a relevant, individualised and meaningful curriculum set within a context informed by an approach known as PACE. This comprises four personal qualities (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy) which enable adults to support each child/young person to develop their self-awareness, emotional intelligence, emotional regulation and their resilience.
Together with families we aim to discover how each pupil can best learn and we always remain curious about what is meaningful and important in our pupils’ lives. In this way we try to understand each child’s world as they see it. This helps us to create a relationship within which we can teach and care for them in a way which helps them to feel understood. We aim to nurture and develop their learning capacities, enabling them to enjoy a good quality of life through healthy living and positive relationships with self, peers, adults and their community. We strive to support the development of the whole child so that each may flourish and feel prepared for life beyond school, so experiencing the satisfaction that this brings.
