Welcome

Merrow C of E Infant School is a voluntary controlled school within the Guildford Diocese and we have strong links with our local church, St. John’s.

The original school dates back to 1853 with a new building added in 1984. There are 6 classrooms, a library and hall, which is used as a gym, assembly hall and dining hall. Classrooms are well equipped with interactive whiteboards, computers and tablets.

A tarmac playground and grassed areas surround the school. The school community works hard to create an exciting environment with a trim trail, pavilion, fort, pirate boat, climbing frame, pond and woodland walk, which provide the children with imaginative play and learning opportunities.

Reception children have their own playground and outdoor learning space which includes an all-weather grass area, a covered play area, picnic tables, blackboards and planters.

Our values are rooted in Christianity and children are given opportunities to learn about and reflect on Jesus’ teachings. Our ongoing relationship with St John’s encourages the children to see how the church can contribute to their spiritual development as well as its role within the wider community.

Weekly Collective Worship and half termly ‘Open the Book’ performances, as well as Pause Days and services at the church, are an integral part of school practice and the development of the children’s increasing sense of responsibility to their Christian faith
