Headteacher's Welcome

Thank you for your interest in Abbeywood Community School.

I am proud to be Headteacher of the school and believe that an outstanding education and an opportunity to succeed is a right for all. We are a honoured member of the Olympus Academy Trust, where we strive to ensure collaboration across our schools to bring about excellence in all that we undertake for our students.

We recognise that students prosper when they feel respected and are provided with a culture of genuine mutual respect between all members of our school.

We aim to deliver brilliance in everything that we do and have the highest of expectations for all our students. Our highly skilled staff and teachers are experienced educators and have created a nurturing environment, where every child is challenged to achieve their full potential.

We believe passionately in developing our students into successful and resilient learners, who are confident, courteous, responsible and well-informed young people. This is a part of being an Abbeywood student and we develop these personal qualities through every interaction in school and through our Character Education and enrichment programme. We believe these skills are critical to ensure that our young people are prepared to thrive beyond school in whatever path they choose.

As a parent and a Headteacher, I know how important it is for families to be involved in their child's education. I am eager for us to work together to help realise our ambition for your child and to inspire them to become extraordinary young people. In joining Abbeywood Community School, we will expect you to speak with teachers regularly and visit when possible, to share and celebrate the successes of your child and support them to learn from mistakes to get to even better. Please come and visit our school and we will proudly show you around.

About Us

We are committed to the highest standards of achievement possible in everything that we do. Our staff are one of our greatest assets and the quality of their teaching and support is reflected in our improving GCSE and A level examination results. We are also firm believers that students should have a wide range of opportunities to experience and develop additional skills to prepare and equip them for successful futures. We have an extensive enrichment programme which includes a range of sporting activities, art, drama productions, music clubs and a number of trips and visits which extend and develop learning outside the classroom. We want students to enjoy their learning at Abbeywood Community School and to have the enthusiasm, skills and understanding to continue their learning once they leave the school at 19. We use new understanding about learning and technology to make sure that we cater for the needs of every individual student, equipping them with the tools and skills for success in the 21st Century.
