Acorn Education Trust is seeking a motivated and hardworking Site Operative to support our central Site Team in ensuring the general security, safety and maintenance of our Wiltshire-based school sites, buildings and grounds.
Working Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). Required: ASAP. Salary: £12.65 – £13.05 per hour (£24,404 – £25,183 per annum) depending on experience.
At Acorn, we pride ourselves on transforming education locally, with our two nurseries, sixteen primary and three secondary schools being at the heart of their local communities. As part of our Site Team, you will play an active role in supporting with site improvement and maintenance works, predominantly across our Primary settings, and will report to the Head of Estates.
The successful candidate will be organised, consistent and have solid awareness of Health & Safety, and hygiene procedures. You will be expected to undertake a range of duties, including maintaining school grounds, premises, fixtures and fittings, completing compliance and Health and Safety checks, identifying maintenance works that are required, carrying out porterage duties and helping to maintain the security and cleanliness of the school premises.
We are looking for someone who:
- Can work under pressure and meet deadlines, prioritising and scheduling effectively and efficiently;
- Holds a full, clean driving licence and is prepared to drive a mini bus;
- Has strong interpersonal and communications skills and can liaise effectively with school staff, pupils, contractors and other outside agencies;
- Has a can-do attitude and is prepared to undertake all types of work;
- Is self-motivated, dedicated and consistent and takes pride in their work;
- Is really strong team player who can use their own initiative;
- Has an understanding of IT programmes (including Microsoft);
- Can demonstrate knowledge of moving and handling;
- Has a recognised qualification in a trade (desirable though not essential) or can demonstrate experience and ‘DIY skills’ to identify, monitor and carry out minor repairs, maintenance and redecoration.
