Kingdown School is looking to appoint a Catering Assistant to join our school in November and support our dedicated and friendly catering team with kitchen preparation and stock handling.

Working Hours: Part Time (20 hours per week, 38 weeks per year, term-time only). Required: November 2024.

Kingdown School is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary school and sixth form, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 18 years. Reporting to the Executive Chef Manager, the successful candidate will be organised and consistent, with a good practical aptitude and must be able to observe health and safety regulations. Experience is preferred, although training will be provided by our expert team.


We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Level 2 food hygiene certificate (desirable but not essential);
  • Has a good understanding of food handling, preparation and hygiene;
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils and staff, and build good relationships;
  • Has excellent practical and organisational skills;
  • Is self-motivated dedicated and consistent, and takes pride in their work;
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Is a strong team player who can use their own initiative;
  • Is aware of health and safety requirements;
  • Can thrive working in a busy environment;
  • Has a positive and flexible attitude.
