Acorn Education Trust is seeking a highly organised and skilled Estates Administration Assistant to provide a senior level of administrative support to our Head of Estates and manage our compliance software, Parago, across the Trust’s Wiltshire-based settings. A flexible approach to working is essential as candidates will be expected to work some weeks during school holidays.
Working Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 44 weeks per year, includes Teacher training days, with four weeks to be worked during school holidays and the majority of leave entitlement to be taken during term time). Required: January 2025.
At Acorn, we pride ourselves on transforming education locally, with our two nurseries, sixteen primary and three secondary schools being at the heart of their local communities. As part of our Estates Team, you will play an active role in supporting with maintenance projects and new build opportunities across our sites and will visit schools regularly to support with general estates business.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, with a keen eye for detail to ensure works are carried out effectively and to specification. An understanding of compliance and Health & Safety legislation as well as previous experience of working with contractors is advantageous for the role, which requires you to ensure a consistent and uniformed approach to compliance across the Trust as well as supporting schools to follow Trust guidelines and processes.
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a full, clean driving license – as travelling between multiple sites is essential for the role;
- Has excellent interpersonal and communications skills and can liaise effectively with school staff, pupils, contractors and other external stakeholders;
- Can work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Can plan, organise and prioritise, as well as respond quickly and effectively to issues that arise;
- Has a critical eye and attention to detail;
- Has experience of using compliance software and a solid understanding of IT programmes (including Microsoft);
- Can demonstrate knowledge of compliance and Health & Safety legislation;
- Is a strong team player who can use their own initiative.
