Kingdown School is seeking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for its dedicated Curriculum Support Team. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping all young people to believe, aspire and achieve.
Working Hours: Part time (30 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 39 weeks per year, includes teacher Training Days). Required: November 2024

As a HLTA, you must be prepared to work flexibly to support all students who require support, including those with SEND. You will liaise with students, teachers, parents, SENCO and occasionally, other external professionals. You will be expected to guide and manage individuals and groups for interventions. Under the direction of a teacher, you may be required to manage whole classes. The successful candidate will be able to plan and deliver effective learning activities as well as assess, record and report on pupils' progress.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working as a TA / HLTA;
- Has at least grade C in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent;
- Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for children and supporting them in their development;
- Can work closely with colleagues to enhance the learning opportunities of students, to positively impact student progress and outcomes.
- Can demonstrate a proactive approach within all aspects of their work;
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
- Is self-motivated, dedicated and consistent;
- Can use effective behaviour management strategies;
- Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
- Is a strong team player, good at building relationships;
- Has a confident, resilient and flexible attitude;
- Is organised and methodical;
- Has experience of working in a secondary school environment (desirable).
