Overview

We make the most of the beautiful surroundings and extensive grounds including a large school field and wildlife garden, a senses garden, fitness trail, plethora of picnic tables and outdoor play activities all surrounded by woodland. Full advantage is taken of these privileged surroundings in the education of the children. The school is housed in two separate buildings.

The main school building is Victorian, with later additions in keeping with the ironstone original; it provides lots of space for our Early Years education, our hall and newly fitted library. The newer ‘homelodge’ block provides bright and airy accommodation for Years one and two.In partnership with parents and school governors, our staff work together as a team to provide a caring environment in which each child can develop as an individual and that everyone achieves the best they can.

Within the classroom the children are encouraged to become self-motivated and responsible, through a curriculum planned by us to cover all basic skills in a way which will stimulate and challenge each child at his/her own level. Above all we want our children to be happy, secure independent learners who leave us with a strong self-esteem and a love of learning.

All the staff and children work hard to ensure that everyone achieves the best they can. As a small village school we maintain close links with our community and parish church – into each day a time for worship praise and reflection is incorporated. The children stay with us for three years, most moving onto Waverley Abbey Junior School at the end of Year two.
