Established in 1846 to ‘serve the children of the Parish of Wigston Magna’, we continue to thrive  as a mixed primary school catering for children 2+ to 11 years old. (Pre School Stage to Year 6).

All Saints Church of England Primary School is situated in the historic town of Wigston Magna and is approximately 5 miles from the centre of Leicester.

The history of the school can be traced back to 1881 when it occupied the Victorian building that is now the County Record Office. Its present modern building was begun in 1976 and since then it has been remodelled and extended to accommodate the changing educational needs of the area.

These changes have created a spacious, up to date, well-resourced primary school which, together with All Saints Pre-School, provide an excellent .educational and recreational facility for both young and old alike in the centre of Wigston.

Children are admitted full-time to All Saints at the beginning of the next school year following their fourth birthday. They stay at All Saints until they transfer to High School at the beginning of the school year following their eleventh birthday. Most move on to Wigston Academy. Excellent liaison exists between the schools to ensure smooth transition for the children through each phase of their education.

We have around 220 children on roll at this present time.

The school enjoys strong links with All Saints Church and has a distinctive Christian foundation. Within our school we aim to create a friendly, happy and caring atmosphere where Christian values underpin the ethos of the whole establishment and its curriculum provision.

We endeavour to provide an education of the highest quality so that our children may realise their full potential. Priority is given to the fostering of good home - school relationships and thus we have an ‘open door’ policy where parents are always welcome.

Ofsted- Good

It's Official - We are a GOOD School

The head teacher’s strong leadership has been the key factor behind the marked improvements made since the previous inspection. Clear priorities are supported well by effective training and appropriate expertise.

  • Governors know the school well. They are highly active, well informed and ambitious for the school’s ongoing improvement.
  • Teaching is good. Teachers plan lessons that motivate and engage pupils well. There are good, trusting relationships between pupils and staff.
  • Pupils’ achievement is good. All year groups and all groups of pupils are currently making good progress from their individual starting points. Outcomes for pupils are now good and have improved since the last inspection.
  • Pupils’ behaviour is good in lessons, around the school and in the playground. They feel safe and well looked after in school.
  • Pupils have good attitudes to learning, clearly enjoy their work and have a strong desire to succeed.
  • Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is strong. Pupils are thoughtful and reflective. They listen respectfully to the views of others and express their own views with confidence.
  • Children get a good start to school in the early years. They make good progress and are ready for continuing their learning in Year 1.
