Welcome to Ansford Academy where you will find a warm and welcoming community with a commitment to sustained development. We are a mixed 11-16 school which is fully comprehensive in nature with approximately 550 students on roll. As a smaller than average secondary school, we are able to truly value the individual and work hard to create opportunities for every student to achieve their full potential.
At Ansford, education is about everyone achieving their best, while developing individual character and personality. We are committed to creating a great place to learn, work and grow. Our motto, learning together to lead our lives, reflects our passionate belief in equipping individuals with the skills to make a success of their lives – to secure useful and rewarding work, make and sustain good relationships and contribute positively to local and global communities.
In our fast-moving and challenging world, a strong portfolio of qualifications opens doors and increases opportunities but does not, on its own, guarantee success. Our focus at Ansford Academy – for students, teachers, associate staff and families – is on learning how to be the best we can be in all aspects of our lives.
We seek to achieve this through a constant desire for growth in three key areas:
We take seriously the responsibilities of working together as a community, striving for excellence in all we do and ensuring that all of us are valued for who we are and who we can become. Through high academic and personal expectations, we inspire our students to enjoy their time here and ensure that they leave fully prepared for the next phase of their lives.

Our core values include:
Promoting aspiration through providing challenge and opportunity – Our curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all learners, igniting the fire of curiosity and offering the experiences and accreditation needed to unlock doors to the future.
Promoting creativity, initiative and endeavour – Through high expectations, a wide range of opportunities and a strong community ethos, we have created an academy that enables our students to be themselves and to thrive.
Building self-reliance by supporting students to develop resilience and responsibility – We believe it is important that our students leave us as self-reliant and resilient individuals who are able to deal with the challenges they will face in the next stage of their lives.
Understanding trust, empathy and belonging – Through fostering a strong sense of community, while also recognising the unique value of each individual, we strive to create a climate in which all students feel that they belong and are comfortable to be themselves.
The Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership was founded in 2009 following the hard federation between Norton Hill and Somervale Secondary Schools. Since this point the Trust has grown to include other secondary schools and a large number of primary schools, which are all located in the Southwest of England: Bath and North East Somerset, Somerset and North Somerset. The full list of schools that are members of the Trust are shown above.
Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership provides support and challenge to all of our schools so that our entire community of children and young people can achieve their best. The unique character of each school is celebrated and nurtured to ensure choice and variety in educational provision. The Trust is committed to providing a broad, balanced and aspirational curriculum in all of its schools, so that all children and young people develop the character and qualifications needed to open doors to their future success. A strong focus on developing and providing inspirational teaching and leadership in all schools, through school-to-school improvement, ensures outstanding progress and educational enjoyment for all members of our partnership’s community.
