Aldworth School is a popular secondary school in Basingstoke with nearly 1,000 students on roll. We have been over-subscribed for entry into Year 7 for the past 3 years and exceeded our published admission numbers in order to meet parental preferences. With secure student numbers we are in a healthy and stable financial position, ensuring we have excellent levels of staffing and resources. This is despite the national issues with funding for schools.
Our school vision is “to be a vibrant learning community with an ethos of ambition and achievement.” This is reflected in our expectations: respect yourself and others, endeavour to do your best and achieve your full potential. Our staff are a dedicated and enthusiastic team who share our vision for the young people who come to school here.
We will provide you with regular training through our INSET meetings (twice every half term) as well as our whole-school INSET days. We have a collaborative approach to developing teaching and learning. Teachers plan lessons centred on ‘exploratory questions’ with the ambition to:
This is a having a really positive impact on learning and all of our staff share this commitment.
The governors of Aldworth School are committed to continuing the professional development of staff and there is a sponsorship scheme which fully funds MA courses and diplomas from recognised providers. This scheme is available for teaching and support staff to access and many staff have taken advantage of this opportunity.
As a Hampshire school we work closely with other local schools and the local authority. Hampshire officials worked with us investing £2.5 million in redeveloping two of our buildings and all works were completed on schedule. The Dartmouth Building was officially reopened by Tracy Edwards OBE in November 2015 and the Winchester Building was officially reopened in December 2016 by Nigel Atkinson, HM Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire.
The facilities we
have for our students are excellent and provide us with an outstanding working
environment. If you are interested in working here we look forward to hearing
