An opportunity has arisen at Sparkenhoe Community Primary School for a reliable and flexible Handyperson/ Level 1 Premises Officer to join our team, who is keen to make a difference and assist with maintaining the premises and grounds to a high standard.

Salary: Scale point 3 £13.45 per hour. Actual Salary £13,325.16
Mon–Thurs: 14:30–18:00 Fri: 15:00–18:00

As a key part of our site team, you’ll have responsibility for general site maintenance, using a varied skillset to carry out tasks such as cleaning, refilling consumables, painting and decorating and manual handling, as well as ensuring the site is in a good condition for all to work and learn effectively.
What You’ll Be Getting Up To
• Tackling day to day repairs and keeping the school in tip top shape.
• Teaming up with our site manager to keep things safe and running smoothly.
• Doing simple health & safety checks.
• Sprucing up our playgrounds and outdoor areas.
• Helping set up rooms and shifting equipment (think: part time furniture Tetris master).
• Checking in with our brilliant cleaning team to make sure everything’s sparkling.
• Working hand in hand with the site team to keep school life running like clockwork.
• Responding to the occasional alarm call – out (cape optional but encouraged!)
About you
• Practical, hands-on and not scared of a loose hinge or wobbly table
• Friendly, down to earth, and easy to chat to
• Able to crack on with jobs independently
• Some DIY/maintenance experience is ideal (school experience = bonus points but not essential!)
• Keen to help make our school a safe, warm, welcoming place for everyone.

Job requirements
- Literacy and numeracy sufficient to perform daily tasks
- Good standard of maintenance and DIY experience with an understanding of health and safety parameters
- Ability to prioritise and plan own workload
