We are seeking to appoint a number of Level 2 SEN teaching assistants to support named pupils with the most complex needs in our school.

This could be in any year group from F1 to Year 6 and/or in our Dolphins alternative provision class. Candidates who wish to work full or part time are welcome to apply.

Job overview

Interested persons should have experience of supporting SEN pupils with a range of complex needs. We currently support pupils with a range of needs including ASD, Profound Learning Difficulties, SEMH and physical difficulties. Many of our children are non-verbal and communicate using PECS, Makaton or augmented communication devices.

The role will entail working with named children to support their continued development. Contracts are on a fixed term based on the continued needs of the pupils and provided the pupils remain at the school.

Full time: 30.83 hours x 39 weeks (term time plus INSET days)

Working hours: 8.30 am – 3.10 pm with 30 minutes for lunch.

Job requirements

  • Be flexible.

  • Have some experience of using objects of reference, PECS, Makaton or other communication aids or be willing to learn.
  • Be able to use own initiative.
  • Be able to support children with challenging behaviour.
  • Have a good understanding of EHCPs.
  • Be able to deliver a highly differentiated curriculum with guidance.
  • Plan and prepare resources and deliver effective interventions.
  • Be willing to provide intimate care.
  • Work well in a team.
  • Liaise with parents, other staff and external agencies.
  • Be proficient using IT.
  • Keep accurate records.
  • Allow time before and after school hours to set up and liaise with other staff.
