The Balcarras Trust came into existence on December 1st 2020.

It was formed by the Members and Trustees of the Balcarras Academy Trust, which as a Single Academy Trust (SAT) had oversight of Balcarras School based in Cheltenham.

In 2018, Balcarras was appointed by the Regional Schools' Commissioner to be the sponsor of a new secondary school for Cheltenham. That school—The High School Leckhampton—opened on September 1st 2021.

In 2023, Winchcombe School, an 11-16 Comprehensive School based in the Cotswolds, joined the Trust.

The Trust will establish the highest educational standards in our schools. We believe strongly in the value of comprehensive education and we are committed to the belief that all children should receive an outstanding education regardless of ability, prior attainment or background.

Certain values underpin the work of Trust and are non-negotiable. We insist that all of our schools are comprehensive and focussed on the achievement of every child.

We ensure that our schools are inclusive and welcoming, including to children who have specific barriers to learning.We value the contribution of our teachers and support staff because they are our most prized asset. We will always look to establish close working relationships with our parents and families.
