Teacher of Computer Science/ICT

We are looking to recruit a Teacher of Computer Science/ICT to join us from August 2024 (or 1st July 2024 for an ECT year 1 candidate) for one year in the first instance. The ability to also teach Business Studies would be desirable.

Beaumont Leys School is a highly successful 11-16 school consistently rated as Good by Ofsted, most recently in March 2020. We are very proud of the progress our students make, and the destinations that our students go on to; many of our students have challenging backgrounds and low prior attainment on intake and so we are the beacon of hope for their futures. We believe that a high quality education leads not only to transformative exam results for students, but also in great character development. We want students to feel that they belong in our school and develop their sense of self-worth alongside an understanding of the positive impact they can have on those around them.

Together We Achieve Success is our motto and the driving force for our school. Our students thrive because our staff are dedicated to students’ success; to building positive relationships; and to collaborating and working as a team within a supportive environment. We are a school with a heart and soul, and we believe our job is to give our students the best possible chances in life, creating some fantastic lifelong memories along the way.

Our Computer Science, Business Studies and ICT faculty is a dynamic and forward thinking team made up of three experienced members of staff. The faculty has their own dedicated ICT suite with 4 bespoke computer rooms. We pride ourselves on delivering a well-rounded curriculum that inspires students to pursue a future in the field. Our courses are selected with students in mind to allow a range of pathways for them to achieve and enjoy learning. We currently deliver GCSEs in Computer Science and Business Studies. As part of our ICT offer, we also deliver the Cambridge National in iMedia. All three courses are extremely popular. Last year Computer Science and iMedia results were above average compared to similar students nationally and our first cohort of students taking the Business Studies GCSE are on track to achieve excellent grades in 2025.

We work hard to recruit the best and then we support them to be even better. Our internal promotion record is impressive, even our Head Teacher started with us as an NQT. We engage extensively with local ITT providers, including Teach First and Researchers into School, and provide an excellent ECF support programme and a strong and well-evaluated programme of professional learning. Our teachers are always learners and as such role model everything we want for our students. Therefore, if you want a forward thinking, dynamic school to take your career to the next level, we would welcome your application.

We are committed to keeping children and young people safe from harm and abuse and to promoting their welfare, and we expect that everyone who comes to work for us will share the same commitment.

All roles within the school are covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975, and are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Full details and an application form are available from the school website.

Closing Date for applications: Tuesday 7th May 2024 at 9am, although we reserve the right to interview early

Safeguarding Statement:

We are committed to keeping children and young people safe from harm and abuse and to promoting their welfare, and we expect that everyone who comes to work for us will share the same commitment. Fulfilling this responsibility includes making sure that our recruitment process includes a range of measures to identify those who may be unsuitable to work with children and young people. In addition, all roles within the school/college are covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975, and are subject to an enhanced DBS check. This may involve a discussion with yourself about the circumstances and background to your offences.
