WELCOME

I am delighted to welcome you to the Eteach Career site of Bedminster Down School.

My name is Louise Davies and I am the Principal. I’d like to tell you about our school and what makes it such a brilliant place to learn.

Bedminster Down is proud to serve its local community and the families of south Bristol. We want the young people in our care to enjoy school, to take pleasure in learning, to have high aspirations for themselves, respect for others and to build friendships for life. We want our students to be the role models, change makers and wealth generators of the future.

Our curriculum is broad and enables students to pursue a wide variety of subjects and personal interests in the future. It is underpinned by our values of belief, determination and success.

Our staff, parents and carers believe in the potential of all our students and we have high aspirations for every one of them. We help young people develop belief in themselves to achieve their ambitions.

We are determined to provide the very best standards of education enabling our students in turn to become determined and resilient young adults.

By working together, we can help every young person to be successful, not just academically, but emotionally, physically and spiritually too. We want our students to flourish as individuals.

I look forward to welcoming you in person.

About Us

Bedminster Down offers a rounded and balanced education with teaching that motivates and challenges and exciting opportunities to broaden horizons.

At open days and parents’ evenings families often comment on the calm and purposeful feel of our campus. We’re smaller than many other schools in Bristol and this gives us the opportunity to really get to know every student as they progress through the school. Our arrangements to settle new children into secondary school life are unmatched in the city with a whole week dedicated in the summer term to help our new students get to know us.

We aspire to educate local children to become responsible citizens, fully equipped to take the next step to further education or apprenticeships. Bedminster Down School uses well-established links with sixth forms, colleges and employers to ensure our young people land at a destination that best suits their ambitions.
